Monroe man jailed for several counts

A Monroe County resident was jailed on several criminal charges stemming from an incident at the Walmart store in Mt. Pocono about 10:49 a.m. on Jan. 13.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said officers on bike patrol were in the parking lot of the store when alerted of a theft incident and the offender running from the store with an electric razor valued at $211.97.

The officers spotted the suspect and pursued him across the lot and onto SR940 and then into a wooded area. K9 Chase was called to the scene and the suspect was apprehended and identified as Vernice Harvard, no address given.

Harvard was placed under arrest and arraigned before a district judge on charges of retail theft, escape, possession of an instument of crime and fasle reports to law enforcement. He was remanded to the county prison in Snydersville in lieu of $25,000 bail.
