PV District calendar correction
Pleasant Valley School District would like to note that a correction is needed in the school calendar.
Friday, Jan. 22 and Friday, March 12 ARE NOT scheduled Staff Development days. School will be in regular session for all students on these days.
PVI yearbook
If you are interested in helping with the Pleasant Valley Intermediate School 2009-2010 yearbook (taking pictures of special activities and sports events, page layouts, etc.), please contact Robin Bok at PVI. If you have any special pictures that you would like to contribute for the yearbook, it would be greatly appreciated. Yearbook orders will be taken throughout the month of February only.
PVI Principal's Advisory Committee
This month's Pleasant Valley Intermediate School PAC meeting will be held at 1:15 p.m., Monday, Jan. 25. Any parent of a PVI student interested in becoming a PAC member for the 2009-2010 school year, should call the PVI office at (570) 402-1000 ext. 3003. Your interest and involvement would be greatly appreciated.
PVE Second Grade Math-a-thon
The Pleasant Valley Elementary Second Grade Math-a-thon will begin Monday, Jan. 11, with a video explaining the details of the event. Students will be raising money for St. Jude's Children's Hospital. The monies collected benefit medical research for illnesses affecting children. This fundraiser is one of PVE's favorites as children are given the opportunity to practice new math skills while raising money for a worthy cause. Permission forms and information about the Math-a-thon will be sent home to parents on Jan. 11.
Welcome kindergartners
Kindergarten registration for the 2010-2011 school year will be held March 22-30 and April 6-16. Calls are being taken to schedule an appointment to preregister your child. When calling, please be prepared with your child's entire legal name, both your physical and mailing address, phone number, and parents' full names. Please call (570) 402-1000 ext. 4010, between the hours of 9 a. m. and 2 p.m. Students must be 5 years of age on or before Sept. 1, 2010 and reside in the Pleasant Valley School District in order to register.
PTO News
The Pleasant Valley Elementary School PTO will be holding a Winter Carnival on Friday, Jan. 15 from 6-8 p.m. This is a family event and parents are asked to stay with their children. Additional information will be sent home with your child in early January.
The next PTO meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 21 at 4 p.m. in the faculty lounge. Baby-sitting is available upon request.
Happy birthday wishes
Celebrating his 80th birthday is Sterling Scheller on Jan. 9, and celebrating her 85th birthday is Viola Bruch on Jan. 12.
