Published January 23. 2010 09:00AM

Four area residents were among 24 who were admitted by Judge D. Michael Stine into the Schuylkill County Accelerated Rehabilative Disposition (ARD) probation program after they were recommended by District Attorney James P. Goodman because this was their first criminal offense and it was of a non-violent nature.

At a session held Thursday Stine explained to the defendants what the ARD program involves and its end resolution. Only the district attorney can recommend but the court has the power to overrule if it finds that the party is not qualified to be admitted into the program.
