Mahoning appointments made for new year
Mahoning Township supervisors appointed several positions and passed several annual resolutions during their reorganizational meeting. All of these appointments were made unanimously by the board:
All part-time police officers Jesse Brown, Christopher Ritter, Alvin Beishline, Robert Hontz, James Danner, Tyler Meek, Daniel Magarelli and Daniel Long were reappointed at a rate of $15.50 per hour.
LeRoy Leibenguth was reappointed as the Township Zoning Officer at a rate of $475 a month. This represents a $25 increase over last year's rate due to the increase in long distance phone calls needed to be made by Leibenguth throughout the year.
Part-time road department workers pay rate was set at $13 an hour.
Reappointed Ron Reeser as the Encroachment Officer. Reeser is also the roads department supervisor.
Reappointed Scott Bieber as the Mahoning Township Sewage Enforcement Officer.
Reappointed William Briar as the alternate SEO.
Reappointed Gene Durigan as the Chairman of the Vacancy Board.
Reappointed Bruce Steigerwalt to the Planning Commission and appointed Shawn Haggerty to fill Donald Gorsky's seat.
Reappointed Nanovic Law Firm as the township Planning Commission's solicitor and the Strubinger Law Firm as the township's Zoning Board solicitor.
Reappointed supervisor George Stawnyczyj to the Lehigh Canal Recreation Commission.
Appointed Chairman John Wieczorek to the Carbon County Home Health Care Board.
Appointed Franklin Ruch as the PSATS Voting Delegate.
Appointed Wieczorek to the Carbon County Tax Committee.
Appointed Ruch to the Carbon County Regional Comprehensive Plan Committee.
Reappointed PNC Bank as the township depository.
Changed the board's meeting times to the second and fourth Mondays of the month at 7PM.
In addition to the appointments, the board also passed several resolutions setting fees for the various boards and commissions in the township as well as authorizing a 5% contribution from the full-time police officers to the township's pension fund.
