Schuylkill Co. man pleads to 10 counts of sexual assault
A Tower City man pleaded guilty to 10 counts of sexual abuse recently in Schuylkill County court and is being evaluated as a sexual offender.
Leroy Joseph Johns, Jr., 44, entered a guilty plea to 10 counts of sexual abuse of children and Judge Jacqueline Russell deferred sentencing and ordered the defendant to submit to an evalation through the state's sexual offenders asssessment board. A sentence date will be set when the court receives the result of the evaluation.
Charges were filed by Cpl. Paul Smith, state trooper, July 2, 2009. The information filed to court states Johns possessed 10 movie files and 15 computer images depicting children under 18 years of age engaged in prohibited and simulated sexual acts
Two other men pleaded guilty and were sentenced by Russell.
William Joseph Dixon, 38, Pottsville, on a charge of harassing Chris Allen Dixon, was fined $100 and pay cost of prosecution. Charlges of simple assault and recklessly endangering another person were nol prossed. Dixon was cited by Trooper Michael V. Ryan last Sept. 6.
Sean Thomas Cooper, 38, Minersville, on a charge of terroristic threats was placed on probation of two years, pay $50 to CJEA, attend and successfully complete the batterers program, make restitution of $505 to Laura Clark, Pottsville, the victim and have no contact with her or her family. On a charge of criminal mischief to real or personal property was given a concurrent 12 months probation sentence and on a charge of harassment was fined $50 plus costs. Cooper was cited by Patrolman Grant Yoder, Pottsville police, on Jan. 16, 2009.
