Tonight's starting times changed due to weather

Due to the possibility of snow this evening, many area high schools have changed the starting times of their sporting events or postponed.

A number of basketball games have been affected as well as the District 11 wrestling team duals.

Below is a list of Friday's TIMES NEWS sports schedule complete with all revisions (as of press time).

BOYS BASKETBALL

Northern Lehigh at Pen Argyl The varsity game will start at 4 p.m. The JV game will be played immediately following the varisty game. The junior high game has been postponed to a date and time to be announced later.

Lehighton at East Stroudsburg South The starting time of the JV game has been moved up to 4 p.m. The varisty game will follow with an approximate starting time of 5:30 p.m. The freshman game has been cancelled.

Tamaqua at Panther Valley Postponed to Saturday, Feb. 13.

Nativity at Marian The starting time of the JV game has been moved to 4:30 p.m. and their quarters will be shortened to six minutes. The varisty game will follow with an approximate starting time of 5:30 p.m.

Palmerton at Northwestern Postponed to Monday, Feb. 8.

Pocono Mountain West at Pleasant Valley No changes as of press time

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Pen Argyl at Northern Lehigh The varsity game will start at 4 p.m. The JV game will be played immediately following the varisty game.

East Stroudsburg South at Lehighton The starting time of the JV game has been moved up to 4 p.m. The varisty game will follow with an approximate starting time of 5:30 p.m.

Jim Thorpe at Shenandoah Valley Postponed to Saturday, Feb. 13. Varsity tips off 2:30 p.m. with JV at 1 p.m.

Pleasant Valley at Pocono Mountain West No changes as of press time.

WRESTLING

District 11 Team Duals The tournament, originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday, was postponed to Sunday and Monday. The preliminary round (teams seeded seventh through 10th) has been moved up to 11 a.m. for Class AA and AAA. The next round, quarterfinals, will be contested at 12:30 and 2:15. Semifinals for both classes will be Monday at 5 p.m. and both finals are slated for 7:30 p.m. All action takes place at Freedom High School in Bethlehem. Updated brackets with times are on the District 11 web site.

Local teams rescheduled times:

Class AA

Northwestern (No. 8) vs. Panther Valley (No. 9), Sunday, at 11 a.m. The winner of the match will face top-seeded Pen Argyl, approximately at 2:15 p.m.

Lehighton (No. 6) vs. Saucon Valley (No. 3), Sunday, 12:30 p.m.

Northern Lehigh (No. 4) vs. Pius X (No. 5), Sunday, 12:30 p.m.

Class AAA

Pleasant Valley (No. 9) vs. Blue Mountain (No. 8), Sunday, 11 a.m. If Pleasant Valley wins it will face top-seeded Nazareth, 2:15 p.m.
