DUI and drug arrests in Monroe
Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on two driving under the influence (DUI) and a drug arrest following traffic stops in Monroe County.
On Monday, Feb. 15, about 1:56 a.m. officers were on patrol along SR940 in Tobyhanna Township traveling eastbound when a westbound vehicle entered the police lane of travel almost striking the police cruiser.
Officers made a traffic stop and identified the driver as Brian Rogan, 49, of Blakeslee. Officers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage. Rogan submitted to field sobriety tests, which he failed, and was then transported to the Pocono Medical Center (PMC), East Stroudsburg, for a blood test. Blood test results showed Rogan was over the legal limit of .08 percent. He will be charged with DUI, police said.
On Sunday, Feb. 14, about 10:50 p.m. officers conducted a traffic stop along SR940 at State Ave., in Pocono Pines. The driver was identified as Andrew Hatton, 31, of Mount Laurel, N.J. Hatton was found to be under the influence and was taken to the PMC for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results, police said.
On Tuesday, Feb. 16, about 6:10 p.m. officers stopped a Ford Explorer for traffic violations. The driver was identified as Eric Bell, of Bartonsville. A consent search was conducted of the vehicle and found was a small amount of marijuana along with drug paraphernalia. Bell will be charged with possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
