Senior citizen food pantry

The following is information for the new senior citizen food pantry.

Senior box sign-up will be held on Thursday, Feb. 18, starting at noon. This is open to all seniors (60 years of age and low income) who meet the guidelines.

Income eligibility is as follows: For a family of one, the monthly income can't be greater than $1,174. For a family of two, the monthly income can't be greater than $1,579.

Proof of income and residency is required for this program. Proof includes: Disability, Pension, Social Security, Unemployment, current Medicaid Card, Food Stamp Award Letter. Please bring all paper work with you for this program.

Each person, even if living in the same household, must sign in person for the initial start up of this program.

Food bank

The Nesquehoning Food Pantry will be held on Thursday, Feb. 18 from 1-3:30 p.m. at Meed's United Methodist Church in Nesquehoning. Please remember to bring your bags.

Free dinner

On Wednesday, Feb 24 the free dinner this month will be hot turkey sandwiches, served from 5-7 p.m. at Meed's United Methodist Church.

Summit Hill

Lions to meet

The Summit Hill Lions Club will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at 6:30 p.m. at the Parkview Inn. Dr. Kenneth Vermillion, president, will be in charge of the session.

The district governor will be in attendance. He will be joined by the new officers of the Weatherly Lions Club that was sponsored by the Summit Hill Lions.

Also in attendance will be Al Sellers, who will provide information about the upcoming census that will be taken.

A new member will also be inducted.

Members attending are reminded to bring a canned good for the Purple Pig "Feed the Hungry Project."

Members are reminded dues for 2010 are now being accepted. They can be sent to the club at P.O. Box 123, Summit Hill, Pa. 18250, or can be forwarded to secretary Ann Yusella.

Persons interested in becoming members of the service club can contact Dr. Kenneth Vermillion.

St. Paul Lutheran

The annual congregational meeting and dinner for St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, will be held on Sunday, Feb. 14. All members are encouraged to attend.

The meeting will be held immediately after the weekly worship service, which will be held at 10:30 a.m. The Sunday school session will be held that day at 9 a.m.

Members are reminded Sunday, Feb. 21, is the deadline for submitting articles for the church newsletter.

Methodist Charge

The schedule for the Coaldale/Summit Hill United Methodist Charge for Sunday, Feb. 14, is as follows:

Worship services will be held at 9 a.m. in the Summit Hill United Methodist Church and at 11 a.m. in the Coaldale United Methodist Church. The Rev. Burgess Gordon, pastor, will preside at both services.

The adult Sunday school will meet at 9:45 a.m. in the Coaldale church.

Presbyterian Church

The Hope of Christ Presbyterian Church, Summit Hill, will have a regular worship schedule on Sunday, Feb. 14. The Sunday school and adult Bible study will begin at 9 a.m. and will be followed by a service of worship at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Fred Rogers, pastor, officiating.

Coaldale

C.H.O.S.E. to meet

The C.H.O.S.E. Recreational Organization will be held Monday, Feb. 15, 7 p.m. at President Krapf's home in Coaldale. Members are asked to bring their orders for the soup sale. C.H.O.S.E. welcomes new members.
