Monroe crashes

State police at Fern Ridge reported investigating three accidents along Monroe County roads on Sunday and Monday, Feb. 7-8.

A one-vehicle crash occurred about 12:24 a.m. on Sunday along Burger Hollow Road (SR3007), in Polk Township. Troopers said Christopher E. Myers, 34, of Effort, was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Blazer northbound and going too fast for conditions due to snow and ice on the road. Myers lost control of the vehicle causing the Blazer to enter the southbound lane and veered back into the northbound lane. The Blazer then crossed back over the southbound lane and into a ditch, then struck an embankment. The Blazer rolled over onto the driver's side before coming to rest.

Myers sustained a minor laceration to his right hand but did not require medical attention. He was cited for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed.

A two-vehicle crash was reported at 12:15 p.m. Sunday along SR209 in front of the Queen of Peace church in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said David Banez, of Blakeslee, was stopped waiting to make a left turn when his 2007 Pontiac G6 was struck in the rear by a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu driven by AmyJo Broddecker-Jabbour, of Palmerton. No one was injured. The Malibu had to be towed from the scene.

Troopers probed a crash on Monday about 11:37 a.m. along SR115 at Effort Neola Road, in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said Justin Johnson, 22, of Massachusetts, CA., was southbound and waiting for a vehicle in front of him to turn when his 2006 Ford Escape was struck in the rear by a 1992 Dodge Dynasty driven by Frank Wiseand, 51, of Blakeslee. No one was injured but both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

Troopers cited Wiseand for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed.
