Monroe teen facing charges

A Monroe County teen is facing charges after he allegedly stabbed another teen with a pocket knife following a confrontation at a county restaurant.

State police at Fern Ridge said the incident occurred about 8:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2, at the Burger King Restaurant located along SR209 in Brodheadsville, Chestnuthill Township.

According to troopers a 17-year-old male from Kunkletown and a 16-year-old male from Effort, were involved in a physical altercation in the parking lot. During the incident the 17-year-old pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed the 16-year-old in the abdomen area. He then sliced the forearm of a 17-year-old male from Effort, who attempted to pull him off of the other teen.

All three were taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for treatment of injuries, none of which were apparently serious.

Troopers said the 17-year-old from Kunkletown was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault. Charges are pending against the 16-year-old including simple assault and related offenses.
