Rollover occurs on Mansion House Hill

A Jim Thorpe woman escaped serious injury duing a one-vehicle accident Tuesday morning.

Police in Mahoning Township said the accident happened at about 9:45 a.m.

According to police, Shirley May Nothstein, 66, was driving her 2005 Ford Escape on Route 209 on the Mansion House Hill when she became distracted. In doing so, she went off the right of the road, onto an embankment, and lost control of her vehicle.

The vehicle flipped over, police said.

Upon the arrival of Police, Fire Departments from Jim Thorpe and Lehighton and the Lehighton Ambulance, the driver of the vehicle had been pulled out of the wreckage and escaped any serious injury. She was treated by EMS personnel at the scene.

Route 209 was shut down for approx. 45 minutes.

Jim Thorpe Borough Police and Lehighton Fire Police assisted Mahoning Township Police with directing and or diverting traffic until the road was opened.
