'A Night of Unity' slated at Pleasant Valley
The Pleasant Valley School District's Diversity Task Force will present "A Night of Unity" from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, at the high school. If inclement weather occurs, the event will be on March 4.
The evening will be a night for celebrating differences with a focus on diversity - ethnic, cultural, and more.
The public is invited to the event, said Dr. Douglas C. Arnold, superintendent.
It will be held in the lobby and auditorium of the school. There is no admission fee. Performances to showcase diversity will be held in the auditorium.
In addition, there will be displays and presentations set up throughout the lobby areas.
Among the displays and presentations are: PVHS Diversity Task Force, The Western Pocono Community Library, PV ESOL Department, Vietnam Veterans, Stroudsburg Little Bethel Historical Association, American Indian culture, music, and dance.
Also Sons of Italy, Gallagher School of Irish Dance, Jamaican culture, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, West End Academy of Dance, Kiwanis, EF Foundation for Foreign Study, Bagpiper Dirk Spit, PVE students, Unity Coalition of the Poconos, Chinese dancers, RSVP - Retired Seniors Volunteer Program, the African American Network, PVHS Hip Hop Dance Team, and much more.
The program is sponsored by the Pleasant Valley School District Diversity Task Force, a committee of 35 students, parents, community members, teachers, and administrators working to promote and celebrate the strengths of diversity in the school district.
Dr. Arnold said he urges all district residents to "come and enjoy the richly diverse cutlure that makes up our school and community."
