Ready for trial, man pleads guilty

A Carbon County resident, who was scheduled to have a non-jury trial on Thursday before a county judge, changed his mind and entered guilty pleas to the two pending criminal counts.

Joshua Peter Correll, 28, of Albrightsville, pleaded guilty to one count each of unauthorized use of an automobile and driving while under suspension-DUI related before Judge Steven R. Serfass.

Correll was arrested by June 26, 2009, for taking the 2003 Subaru Legacy of Donna Correll, of Kidder Township, without her permission. He was stopped by Nesquehoning and Rush Township police after they responded to an alert issued by Kidder police to be on the lookout for the vehicle.

Serfass accepted the pleas and sentenced him to serve 60 to 120 days in jail, pay a fine of $500 and costs and will have another year added on to his license suspension. He will serve the jail term on consecutive weekends beginning Friday, March 12, at 7 p.m.
