Zoners approve subdividing restaurant/house

The Nesquehoning Zoning Committee met with attorney Michael Greek to subdivide two buildings owned by Ann Marie Fritzinger and Wayne Fritzinger of Nesquehoning of 1116 E. Catawissa St.

The one lot will be a restaurant and the other is a house. The owner of the house, Wayne Fritzinger, provided testimony that there has never been a problem with parking in the past with owners of the previous restaurant. The new owner of the restaurant is Roberto Picone who attended the meeting with his wife Josie.

The subdivision was explained by surveyor Michael Kafkala Jr. He presented maps to the committee and attorney Greek. There are 14 parking spaces at the restaurant with approximately 50-55 seats for the customers. Picone plans to pave the parking lot in the summer and paint parking lines.

After the committee went into executive session, they returned to grant the owner the permission for the subdivision and there would not be a variance needed for the 14 parking spaces which are already there. If more are needed in the future, they can request for them.

The second request was from Danny Farole who wants a subdivision on his properties located at 154 and 158 E. Catawissa St. and the one he and his wife now reside in along Mill Street below the Catawissa Street address.

Speaking on their behalf was Michael Kafkala Jr., professional land surveyor. After discussing the measurements of the established homes, the committee met in executive session and granted the variance for lot No.3 on Mill Street. They did not need a variance for the Catawissa Street property.
