Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on three driving under the influence (DUI) arrests made by officers recently.

A crash occurred on Tuesday, Feb. 2, along Heller's Lane at Tunkhannock Trail, in Tunkhannock Township. Police said a vehicle operated by Christine Mead, 42, of Tunkhannock Township, crashed at the intersection. In speaking with Mead, police noted the odor of an alcoholic beverage. She failed field sobriety tests. She admitted taking prescription medication and drinking vodka before driving, police said.

She was placed under arrest and transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results.

Also on Tuesday, about 1:55 a.m., officers observed a vehicle traveling along SR940 near the Uni-Mart at varying speeds. It then pulled off at a local business. Officers spoke with the driver, identified as Danny Hicks, 36, of Stroudsburg. Hicks said he was lost and was trying to find Camelback Ski Area.

While speaking with Hicks officers noted the odor of an alcoholic beverage. He failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for DUI. Found on his person was a bag containing suspected marijuana and a grinder. He was transported to PMC for a blood test.

Charges pending are DUI, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Jan. 28 about 11:41 p.m. officers investigated a crash along SR940, just west of the Uni-Mart in Pocono Lake. A vehicle was driven westbound by William Faust, 21, of Weatherly. The car went onto the shoulder causing Faust to lose control due to snow and ice conditions. The vehicle then spun counter-clockwise across the road and landed into a yard.

Faust was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. He was then transported to PMC for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results. He will also be charged with driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed and accidents to unattended property.
