Arrest made in Schuylkill burglary
An arrest was made this week in a burglary that occurred more than two years ago in Schuylkill County. State police at Frackville said DNA evidence found at the scene led to the arrest.
Troopers said Joseph John Yanochko, 26, no address given, has been charged in connection with a burglary that occurred at the home of Bernard R. and Margaret A. Kulkusky, 23 Arapahoe Circle, Valley of the Lakes, North Union Township.
According to troopers entry was made through an unlocked window sometime between Dec. 15-20, 2008. While inside the home Yanochko ransacked several rooms and removed two handguns as well as a baseball card collection and about $50 in coins and cash, troopers allege.
Troopers said DNA evidence found at the scene led to Yanochko when a "hit" was received and identified the defendant. Through a further investigation and interviews it was developed that Yanochko was the person who entered the home, troopers added.
He was arraigned on Tuesday, March 2, before District Judge Bernadette Nahas, of Frackville, on burglary and related charges. He was committed to the county prison in Pottsville in lieu of $20,000 bail.
