Carbon man jailed for gun incident

A Carbon County man was jailed on Tuesday, Feb. 8, after pointing a pellet gun at state troopers and firing shots at security personnel.

State police at Fern Ridge said about 8 p.m. troopers responded to 94 Buckhill Road, in the Indian Mountain Lakes development, Albrightsville, Penn Forest Township, to a report of a domestic dispute. Upon arrival troopers were told by officers of Intrepid Detective Agency that Joseph Flammia, 20, was in a bedroom at the residence in the downstairs area and had a loaded BB gun. Flammia had yelled at security to leave the area and fired several shots from the gun in their direction.

Troopers then announced their presence. Flammia then yelled back at them to leave. Troopers again announced their presence. They then rounded a corner in the home and observed Flammia pointing a loaded Crossman pellet gun that resembled a real handgun in their direction.

He was ordered to drop the weapon and was taken into custody.

He was charged with three counts of aggravated assault and five counts each of simple assault, simple assault involving a weapon, reckless endangerment, harassment and disorderly conduct.

He was arraigned before a district judge and committed to the county prison in Nesquehoning in lieu of $100,000 straight cash bail.
