Monroe man jailed on multiple counts

A Monroe County man was jailed on Tuesday, Feb. 2, on multiple criminal charges.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said officers responded to 301 Winter Court, Long Pond, about 8:16 p.m. to a report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival officers observed a male exiting the residence through the front door.

Officers confronted the man and he was identified as Lavern Footit Jr., of Wick Court, Long Pond. Footit was intoxicated and when police attempted to arrest him he resisted. Officers were able to subdue him and placed him into custody.

Officers spoke with several victims in the home who said they heard Footit walking inside the home while they hid.

Footit was charged with burglary, criminal trespass, terroristic threats, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, simple assault, criminal mischief and public drunkenness. He was committed to the county prison in Snydersville, police said.
