Speed blamed for Schuylkill crash
Speed was blamed for a one vehicle crash that occurred about 4:47 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6, along Summer Valley Road (SR895), in West Brunswick Township, Schuylkill County.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said Patrick J. Henneghan, 44, of Downingtown, Chester County, was driving a 2004 Saturn Vue eastbound when he lost control on some slush. The vehicle began to fishtail crossing into the westbound lane. The Vue then went onto the berm and struck two mailboxes with the right front bumper, then traveled southeast crossing both lanes of travel. The front driver side door of the Vue impacted with the end of a guardrail. After that impact the Vue continued southeast direction and down a snow-covered field for about 50 feet before striking an embankment of a stream.
Henneghan was not injured but the Vue had to be towed from the scene. Troopers cited Henneghan for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed.
