Bird box building program at CCEEC

Published February 11. 2010 05:00PM

It's time to replace broken bird box boxes or to add a few new ones.

Carbon County Environmental Education Center, 151 E. White Bear Drive, Summit Hill, is holding a program where participants can build a nest box of your choice and take it home. Standard boxes are for bluebirds, chickadees, titmice, wrens and deer mice. Larger boxes are available for American kestrels, screech, saw-whet owls, flying squirrels and red squirrels.

Preregistration is required by Feb. 12 by calling (570) 645-8597 or email the center at cceec@ptd.net.

All ages welcome. Bring a favorite hammer.

There is a fee to make a nest box.
