Number of wells sought in borough

During the meeting of the Nesquehoning Borough Water Authority meeting, Tom Merman, resident, asked the board about how many wells are being recorded in town. He is keeping abreast on that question and wants an answer He feels they should all be accounted for.

Sam Kitchko, secretary of the Nesquehoning Conservation Club, appeared before the board giving information that he gathered since last month's meeting. He referred to the hole in the First Hollow Dam and said he got a price on the bags of Bentonite that is used to fill the hole in the dam. At$14 a bag from Northeast Chemical it would have to be determined how many bags are needed. A meeting will be set up for the purpose.

Denny Creitz, board member, suggested using clay on the 66 cubic foot hole, but the board told him that may be difficult and would require someone finding it and hauling it. President David Hawk told Kitchko to contact the office to leave them know when they would meet at the site. Contractors who built the dam,Scully and Loy, will be contacted to attend as well.

Merman added that he could never understand why two wells were drilled down at the quarry at that business.

Creitz informed everyone that the road leading up to the water tank is getting really bad and needs repairs. Frank Parano, vice president, answered that it will need to be put into the budget.

Kitchko also went on to explain that the conservation club wants to plant $1,000 worth of willow tree saplings in the Spring along the river bank and needs to get owner of the land, Kovatch Corporation's, approval.
