DUI arrests reported in Monroe
Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on three driving under the influence (DUI) arrests made by officers earlier this week.
On Tuesday, March 16, about 11:41 p.m. police made a traffic stop along SR940 at Millers Drive, for violations of the vehicle code. The driver was identified as Shawn M. Hathaway, 42, of Pocono Lake. He was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. He was taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for a blood test. Police noted that Hathaway's driver's license is currently under suspension-DUI related. The DUI charge is pending the test results.
About 12:48 a.m. on Wednesday, March 17, officers stopped a vehicle along SR611 near Fairview Drive for various traffic violations. The driver was identified as Claude Burton, 55, of 496 Foxglove Lane, Tobyhanna. He was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. He was taken to PMC for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results.
On Thursday, March 18, about 12:23 a.m. officers stopped a vehicle along SR611 near Murray St., in Mt. Pocono. The driver was identied as Matthew Perez, 18, of Tobyhanna. At the stop officers detected the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. Perez showed signs of being under the influence and was placed under arrest. Perez submitted to a blood test. Police said DUI of a controlled substance is pending the test results.
