Dog walk
The Tamaqua Area Animal Rescue group will host its Third Annual Dog Walk on May 1, following along the Schuylkill Valley Heritage Trail. The walk will begin at the Newkirk Tunnel Environmental Education Area along SR209, just west of Tamaqua.
Participants will head west for one mile, then return to the registration area.
Registration will begin at 11 a.m. with the walk starting at noon. Registration is required.
Pledge forms are available at the Citi Financial office, located in the former Jamesway Mall, and Tamaqua Borough Hall.
Class of 1969
Any member of the Tamaqua High School Class of 1969, interested in planning a reunion, may contact Dave Frederick at (570) 386-5201 or 225-5586.
St. John UCC
The Rev. Kevin Duffy Guy will officiate at the 9:30 a.m. service this Palm Sunday in St. John United Church of Christ. Nursery service is available during the service. An Easter egg hunt and meal will be held following the service. The weekly service is broadcast on radio station WLSH, AM1410, at 11:30 a.m. Sundays.
Activities for next week will include: Wednesday, Preparatory service at 7:30 p.m.; Maundy Thursday worship service at 7:30 p.m.; Prayer Vigil from 10 p.m. Thursday through noon on Friday.
Bethany EC
The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Palm Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Sunday school for all ages is held at 9:30 a.m.
Also on Sunday, commission meetings will be held at 11:45 a.m.
Activities for next week will include: Tuesday, prayer time at 8:30 a.m. and GriefShare at 1:30 p.m.; Wednesday, TYM and the Finance Class both meet at 6:30 p.m., praise practice will be held at 8 p.m.; Maundy Thursday, service of the Lord's Supper at 7 p.m.; Saturday, praise practice at 9 a.m.
Zion Lewistown
The Rev. Sunny Stock will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Palm Sunday in Zion Church in the Lewistown Valley. The service will include a brief children's message. Sunday school classes will be held at 9:30 a.m.
A joint Youth Group meeting will be held this Friday, at 7 p.m., at Christ Church, McKeansburg.
The Good Friday service will be held at 7 p.m.
