Rush-Ryan seniors
The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. met March 23 at the Ryan Township Fire Company with 38 members in attendance.
President Eleanor Schmerfeld conducted the business meeting. Chaplain Kathleen Valentine offered an invocation. Reports were presented by Secretary Florina Martin and Treasurer Shirley Becker, who reported sending get well cards to Jim Valentine, Dorothy Schmerfeld, Sene Horan, Jane Springer and Gail Wall. A discussion was held concerning the annual banquet, scheduled for May 11, noon, at the Ryan Township Fire Company.
Florina Martin and Shirley Becker provided inspirational readings.
The group meets the first and third Monday of every month. Anyone 50 or older is welcome to join.
Class of 2010
Parents of the Tamaqua Class of 2010 will meet at 7 p.m. today to work on decorations for the annual all night party. The group meets every Monday in the third floor of the Tamaqua Elks, 201 W. Broad St.
Democrats to meet
The eastern Schuylkill Democrats will meet today, at 7:30 p.m., at the east End Fire Company. The public is welcome to attend.
SS. Peter and Paul
Stations of the Cross will be held on Wednesday, at 7 p.m., in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Also on Wednesday, the choir will rehearse at 7:30 p.m.
Holy Week observances will include: Wednesday, Mass and Holy Communion at 8 a.m.; Holy Thursday, Mass of the Lord's Supper at 7 p.m., church will remain open until 10 p.m.; Good Friday, celebration of the Lord's Passion at 3 p.m.; Easter Vigil Saturday, blessing of Easter baskets at 1 p.m., Vigil Liturgy at 8 p.m., followed by High Mass; Easter Sunday, Masses at 7:30 a.m., 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
help will be needed to decorate the church, on Wednesday, at 7:30 p.m., and Friday at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
