March 25, 1960 Palmerton's Ray Carazo is named to the United Press International Fouth Team All-State basketball team. Carazo led the Lehigh Valley League that year in scoring and went on to star at the University of Pennsylvania, averaging 18.1 points per game in his freshman season. Carazo also coached at Yale for seven years. Other regional players named to the UPI squad included Mahanoy Area's Jack Museousky (2nd Team), Mahanoy Area's Jerry Stefanik (3rd Team) and Catasauqua's Gene Martz (4th Team).
