LCCC to offer Learn to Sail Class

Lehigh Carbon Community College will offer a noncredit course called Learn to Sail for individuals interested in learning basic sailing techniques. The following will be covered: sailing basics, nautical boat terms, water safety, navigation, trailering, capsizing and righting, knots, docking and beaching, windsurfing and sailboards, racing, cruising, sailing theory; tacking and jibing; setting sail; tieing and using knots; lifesaving techniques; and more. The Learn to Sail course is presented in conjunction with the Windward Sailing Club.

The class will be offered Tuesdays, May 4 to June 1 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. on LCCC's Schnecksville campus. The course number is REC 525-50. A parent must accompany children under 14 years of age.
