Expensive school construction projects in Pennsylvania may be in for rough sailing during the current administration if a letter from Governor Milton J. Shapp to the North Schuylkill School Board is any indication. Shapp, in the letter, referred to a proposed new $8.9 million school as a "Taj Mahal" and said it would pose "an unnecessary excessive burden on the taxpayers of your district."
