Tamaqua driver in Lehigh crash

A Tamaqua driver was involved in a crash in Lehigh County in which the other driver is facing a driving under the influence (DUI) charge.

State police at Fogelsville said Dennis R. Kopfer, 62, of Germansville, was traveling northbound on SR309 in Lynn Township, about 6:34 p.m. on March 31 when he stopped to make a left turn into the parking lot of Blose's Market.

Troopers said he turned and the front of his 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser struck the rear of a southbound 1994 Chevrolet G30 car operated by Edwin P. Bartholomew Jr., 46, of Tamaqua. No one was injured.

Troopers said Kopfer was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and the charge is pending blood test results.
