Driver facing DUI after crash

A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) after a one-vehicle crash, in which he was seriously injured.

State police at Frackville said Peter Shumski, Shenandoah, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Blazer southbound on SR924, in Sheppton, East Union Township, about 2:40 a.m. on Sunday, April 4, when he veered to the left and traveled along a drainage ditch. The vehicle then rolled over striking a tree and coming to rest on its passenger side.

Shumski was flown by Lifeflight helicopter to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Troopers said signs of intoxication were present and a search warrant was obtain to get a blood sample from Shumski.
