A driver was cited following a one vehicle crash that occurred about 10:45 p.m. on Monday, March 22, along Pohopoco Drive in Towamensing Township, Carbon County.

Troopers said Sean C. Compton, 18, of Lehighton, was driving a 1994 Toyota Pathfinder eastbound and steered to the northeast traveling across the westbound lane. The driver's side of the vehicle struck a dirt embankment, continued east on the north side, with the front end then striking a tree about 35-feet north of the road.

The vehicle then traveled east about 20-feet and the passenger side struck a tree. The vehicle then spun about 180-degrees counter-clockwise and overturned down a ravine where it came to rest on the driver's side facing southwest.

Compton sustained a minor injury but did not require medical attention, troopers said. He was cited for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed.

The second crash occurred about 4:31 a.m. on Monday along SR248 in Bowmanstown. Troopers said Reginald W. Armfield Jr., 43, of Saylorsburg, was westbound when a deer entered the road in front of his 2002 Dodge Voyager. The vehicle struck the deer with the front bumper and grill causing damages. Armfield was not injured.
