CCCC implements changes to serve members and citizens

Dear Editor:

Over the past several months, especially during the first quarter of 2010, it became increasingly apparent to the Carbon County Chamber Board, that changes in the economy and other factors were placing a significant financial burden on the Carbon County Chamber.

If we were to continue without change, it would have affected our ability to effectively serve our members and the citizens of Carbon.

In a proactive measure to address this challenge and to assure the continued viability of the Chamber, the Board concluded that changes, including changes in staffing, were necessary.

As the board is implementing these changes we are thoroughly reviewing our operations with an eye toward improving our service to our members.

For a period, the CCCC will be staffed by volunteers from the board of directors, committees and membership.

With the direct involvement of the board in the day to day operations, we will have a (hands on) evaluation of our system.

This will also be more cost effective in the short term and will allow CCCC to continue dues sharing with it's councils who rely on a share of the funds collected by CCCC to carry out local projects.

To assure a smooth transition, Michael Heery continued as CCCC President until the end of April and worked diligently toward the success of the yearly Carbon County Business Expo at Penn's Peak.

Members wishing to contribute time and expertise toward the future growth and effectiveness of the County Chamber may contact the Chamber office or their respective board representatives.

Out of this challenge, the CCCC has been working as a team, growing stronger and more efficient.

The board of directors ask for your understanding and support and welcomes any comments or suggestions from its membership.
