Attempted break-in, thefts probed

State police at Lehighton reported investigating an attempted burglary, theft and acts of criminal mischief in recent days.

The attempted break-in occurred at the Hawk Trucking property along Silver Springs Blvd., in Kunkletown, Polk Township. An attempt was made to try and open a rear door at the building but the criminals were unable to get in, damaging the door in the process. The incident occurred sometime between 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 4, and 7:30 a.m. on Monday.

Troopers are investigating theft incidents from multiple vehicles parked in Beltzville Estates in Towamensing Township. Several unlocked vehicles were entered and rummaged through. Loose U.S. currency was removed from some of the vehicles. The incident occurred sometime between March 29 at 6 p.m. on March 30 at 7:30 a.m.

Troopers are probing a criminal mischief incident at the Saylorsburg Post Office in Ross Township, Monroe County. Troopers said unknown criminals smashed a window on the building sometime overnight of March 27 and 28.

Jolanta Lorance, 41, of Box 3351, Shady Oaks Drive East, Saylorsburg, Ross Township, reported someone damaged her mailbox on March 28.
