Grandson of area residents wins North Carolina golf title

Jacob Hicks recently shot a 3-under-par 69 to win North Carolina Christian School Association boys' golf championship.

Hicks is the son of former Lake Hauto resident Meg (Gaddes) Hicks and PGA caddie Mike Hicks. He is also the grandson of Bill and Millie Gaddes of Lake Hauto.

Hicks, a 15-year-old sophomore at Alamance Christian School, has been playing varsity golf since the fifth grade. In addition to capturing the individual championship, Hicks led Alamance Christian to the team championship. He finished four strokes ahead of the second place golfer on The Challenge Golf Course.
