Remarks fabricated by third party

Published May 01. 2010 09:00AM

Dear Editor:

I would like to take the opportunity to interject and respond to the article written in regards to the Coaldale Borough Council meeting held on April 13.

My goals and foresight for this community are reared toward helping the leaders of the town to excel to the best of thir ability. It is understandable that the unfortunate situation that happened in conjunction to Patrolman Keith Krapf has affected him and his wife negatively. What is more unfortunate is that the "alleged" remarks spoken and written of were fabricated by a third party and being used against a councilman that received the most votes in the recent election and puts forth efforts into bettering the police force for the wellbeing of the Coaldale community.

Mayor Richard Corkery and I strive to make changes to develop the town of Coaldale into a flourishing and successful future. It is distressing to say that some want it to be stagnant and do not want to invest time and energy into bettering the beautification of the town. I am proud to say that within three months of my term on council, I have worked with the council to fund the completion of the second floor of the police station for sufficient office space and investigation rooms. Before my induction to the council, I volunteered my time to the municipal building, installing World War II murals and a Vietnam mural, an act done to commemorate the veterans and military servicemen of the community. The goals of the council are to improve the infrastructure of the roads in Coaldale, which have been, what I believe, neglected for too long.

The police force is greatly respected for their line of work and duties. In that regard, hostile situations that occur need to be closely examined and used to improve the system in order to make it efficient and keep its citizens safe. With that said, I'd like to thank the diligent citizens of Coalale that put their time and efforts to better the town as opposed to fixating negativity on misconstrued information from a third party.

Sincerely,

Couincilman David J. Yelito
