Owl Creek news

The Owl Creek Community Park Commission held an outdoor meeting last Wednesday at the Owl Creek Reservoir. The group discussed recent activities, as well as upcoming plans.

The group will sponsor an adult dance next month at the Lakeside Ballroom, with music by "Remember When" and the annual Community Yard Sale will be held June 4 and 5.

As part of the ongoing efforts to improve the park area, the group will be planting rain gardens sometime in June, after the playground equipment has been installed. A total of eight gardens, varying in size will be planted with blueberry bushes, Coneflowers and Black Eyed Susans. Anyone interested in donating plants to the gardens may contact Georgine at (570) 668-5608.

Primitive Methodist

The Rev. Rodney Hall will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Primitive Methodist Church. A children's sermon will be included.

Sunday school for all ages begins at 9:30 a.m.

This Sunday, SEND International Missionary Betsy Wambach will be guest speaker, sharing how the Lord has been working in her life.

Salem UM

The Rev. James Cavellero will officiate at the 9:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Salem United Methodist Church.

St. John UCC

The Rev. Kevin Duffy Guy will officiate at the 9:30 a.m. service this Sunday in St. John United Church of Christ. Nursery service is available during the service. A time of fellowship will be held following the service. The weekly service is broadcast on radio station WLSH, AM1410, at 11:30 a.m. Sundays.

Sunday school for all ages is held at 11 a.m.

The choir will rehearse at 7:30 p.m. next Wednesday.

First Methodist

The Rev. James Cavellero will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in First United Methodist Church.

Activities for next week include: Monday, Trustees meeting at 6 p.m., Ad Council meeting at 7 p.m.; Tuesday, Quilters meet at 9:30 a.m.; Wednesday, Senior Choir rehearsal at 7:30 p.m.

United Methodist Women will benefit from a May 8 chicken barbeque at the Hometown Fire Company. Tickets are now available. For more information, call (570) 668-3121.

The Tamaqua-Panther Valley Welsh Songfest will be held April 25, at 3 p.m. Rehearsal will be held this Sunday, at 3 p.m., at First UM.

Class of 2010

Parents of the Tamaqua Class of 2010 meet every Monday, at 7 p.m., on the third floor of the Elks Building, 301 W. Broad St. The group is involved in creating decorations for the annual all night party.

Parents of all class members are welcome to help.

Zion Lewistown

The Rev. Sunny Stock will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Zion Church in the Lewistown Valley. The service will include a children's message and service. Sunday school classes will be held at 9:30 a.m.

Zion Lutheran

The Rev. Debra Ernst will officiate at the 8:15 and 10:45 a.m. worship services this Sunday in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.

The early service will include the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Sunday school classes will meet at 9:30 a.m.

Activities for next week will include: Thursday, Senior choir rehearsal at 7:30 p.m.
