Garden club
The South Schuylkill Garden Club will host its Annual Tea on April 24, at 2 p.m., at the Schuylkill County Country Club, SR443 in Orwigsburg. This year's theme will be "Chocolate and Roses," featuring the Hershey Rose Garden and its founder, Milton Hershey.

The garden club meets the third Tuesday of each month from March through November. Meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. at Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Dock Street, Schuylkill Haven, with the exception of the annual September Plant swap at Frog Hollow and the December holiday party.
New members are always welcome. The club's annual plant sale will be held May 15, from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. across from the Schuylkill Haven High School.
The South Schuylkill Garden Club is a member of District II/III of the Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania and the National Garden Clubs Inc.
Class of 1943
The Tamaqua High School Class of 1943 is planning a reunion picnic for its 67th anniversary. The event will be held June 19 at the Owl Creek Reservoir Pavilion, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The menu will include traditional picnic items such as hamburgers, hot dogs and assorted soft drinks. No alcoholic beverages will be allowed.
Reservations are now being accepted, with a deadline of May 19.

Camp Dragonfly
PinnacleHealth Hospice is now accepting applications for its Camp Dragonfly, a summer camp offering bereavement support for children between the ages of 6 and 12.
The camp will be held at two locations this year, Camp Swatara near Pine Grove, from June 4-6 and Camp Hebron, in Halifax, from June 11-13. Camp Hebron also offers programs for children 13-15.

Recycling
Wednesday is the day for curbside recycling pickup for all residents of Tamaqua.
All recyclable items must be placed in the containers issued to each borough household. Any other containers, such as plastic bags and cardboard boxes, will be emptied and left behind.
Anyone who needs a recycling container may contact borough hall at (570) 668-3444.
Collection bins for cardboard have been moved to the Tamaqua Transfer Station on Sewage Treatment Plant Road.
Collection bins for newspaper can be found at the Tamaqua Borough Garage on East Broad Street.
TOPS news
TOPThe Tamaqua Chapter of Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) meets every Wednesday, from 6-8 p.m., in the Tamaqua Salvation Army Community Center, 105 W. Broad St. The meeting includes a short business session and a program.
Linda Hosler provided an inspirational reading entitled "Mustard Seed Faith" at the April 14 meeting. Leader Bernie Kunkel presented a program on ways to replace negative thoughts with positive ones.
