JT trashed by drinkers
Dear Editor:
From the volume of what we picked up on Saturday morning during our semi-annual highway cleanup, West Broadway and Lentz Trail must be the second most active place to drink in Jim Thorpe.
Members of the Jim Thorpe Visioning Committee filled eight large trash bags, mostly with beer and liquor containers strewn since our last such outing in the fall.
If people must drink while they drive, then why can't they do so responsibly by dropping their empties closer to the road so we don't have to dig them out of the mud and sticker bushes, risking life and limb. One particularly noteworthy individual left his mark along the entire three miles: empty cans of Local Lager were all crushed end to end, at least three cases worth. Please take your trash home and recycle it. Perhaps some unannounced traffic stops now and then would curtail this activity. Besides, the borough could use the fine money.
