Special meeting
The West End Rotary Club will not meet this coming Thursday. Instead, because of a Group Study Exchange Team mixer, to be held Tuesday, April 13 at 6:30 p.m. at the Village Squire Restaurant in Blakeslee, members of the club will visit there and forego that regular meeting.
In addition to the GSE team, there will be members from other local clubs.
It promises to be a fun evening says the club leadership.
Chestnuthill PTO
The Chestnuthill PTO will meet at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 13.
Registration ending
For those who have children old enough to attend kindergarten in the fall in the Pleasant Valley School District, please note that general registration for the 2010-2011 school year ends Friday, April 16.
PV Chem Free
The next meeting of the Pleasant Valley Chemical Free graduation party committee will be at 6 p.m., Tuesday, April 20, at State Senator Browne's office in McIlhaney, across from the Chestnuthill Diner.

Triangle beautification
The Western Pocono Lions Club has placed its order for flowers in preparation for covering the center part of the Routes 209/115 triangle with a multitude of colors. Clean up will begin soon.
In mid-March, as a public service, club members gathered to assist representatives of the Mid Atlantic Community Papers Association in judging multistate entries for the annual advertising and editorial awards contest.
The next meeting of Western Pocono is Wednesday, April 21, at The Hamilton in Saylorsburg. Social time is from 6:30 to 7 p.m. with dinner served at 7 p.m. The program for the evening will be provided by Guy Miller, director of Monroe County Emergency Management, who will speak on how county resources react to and are used in an emergency. Leos service
Good work accolades to the Pleasant Valley High School Leo Club and its adviser Sheri Fallon, a PVHS guidance counselor. Members collected 11 boxes of clothes that were picked up by an occupational therapist from Good Shepherd.
Club members also collected a bagful of glasses and a bag of phones, cameras and games, all for recycling.
May Friendship Day
Church Women United of Monroe County extends an invitation to all to join in the Friday, May 7 celebration of Friendship Day.
The celebration will be held at 11 a.m., at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Tannersville.
Lunch will be provided after the service.

Fourteen piglets
Quiet Valley, Monroe County's Living historical farm is gearing up for the farm's Animal Frolic Days in May. Among the new life already at Quiet Valley are 14 piglets born on March 14 with another litter due in May.
Also expected are lambs, chicks, little gobblers, and more all in time for those special May Saturdays and Sundays.
