Minor injuries in Mahoning crash
A two-car crash on SR443 at Troxell Road near the Wal-mart construction site in Mahoning Township Saturday left two people with minor injuries.
The accident happened at about 2:22 p.m. A vehicle had been stopped on to make a left turn onto Troxell Road. A 2003 Pontiac Vibe driven by Darlene Yeakel, 66, of Olive Street, Lehighton, and a 2004 Mercury driven by Donna L. Graver, 60, of the 100 block of Spring House Road, were heading west approaching the Troxell Road intersection. Graver was following Yeakel.
Yeakel stopped for the vehicle making a left turn and Graver did not and a rear end collision between their respective vehicles occurred, Police Chief Kenneth Barnes wrote in a report.
Both Yeakel and Graver complained of neck pains. Yeakel was transported by ambulance to Palmerton Hospital and Graver was transported by ambulance to Blue Mountain Health Systems Gnaden Huetten Campus, Lehighton.
Both lanes of traffic were shut down for close to an hour and traffic had to be detoured.
Township police were assisted at the scene by members of the Mahoning Valley Fire Company fire police.
