SHHS contest

The Summit Hill Historical Society is running a contest in the museum window, 12 E. Ludlow St. Residents are basked to name as many of the people pictured in the photograph currently on display there.

Entry forms are located in the mail box outside the museum. The contest will run through the Memorial Day weekend, May 31, and the winner will be announced on June 1.

Food distribution

The Summit Hill Food Pantry distributes food to those in need usually on the fourth Tuesday of the month between 10 a.m. and noon.

Presbyterian church

The schedule for the Hope of Christ Presbyterian Church, Summit Hill, for Sunday, May 23, is as follows: Junioe choir, 8:45 a.m.; adult Bible class, 9 a.m.; Sunday school, 9:15 a.m.; and service of worship, 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Frederick W. Rogers, pastor, officiating. Child care is provided.

OLOA signups

Our Lady of the Angels Academy, Lansford, is accepting registrations for the 2010-11 school year. Parents can register their sons or daughters at the school between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., or other arrangements will be made by calling 645-7170 or 645-7101.

Children registering for kindergarten must be five years of age by Oct. 15. First graders must be six years of age by the same date.

Parents are reminded when registering their child the following information will be required: birth certificate, baptismal certificate and immunization records.

A registration fee will also be required.

School officials note financial aid is available to qualifying families.

League to meet

The Anthracite Little League will hold a meeting on Sunday, May 23, at 6 p.m. at the Summit Hill Borough Building.

President Roobhenn Smith will be in charge of the session and encourages all officers, coaches and parents to attend.

Crime watch

The Summit Hill Crime Watch committee will meet on Monday, May 24, at 7 p.m. in the Summit Hill Borough Hall.

Coaldale

First Congregational Church

Morning Worship will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday, May 23, at First Congregational Church with Sunday School for all ages following at 10 a.m.

The Hometown Nursing Home service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 25.

Members of the Memorial Day Choir will rehearse at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 26. Anyone who is interested in joining the choir is welcome to attend the rehearsal.

The annual Memorial Day service will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday, May 30. Sunday School is set for 10 a.m.
