ESRC basketball

The Eastern Schuylkill Recreation Commission will again conduct a Summer Basketball League for adults 18 and older. Competition is scheduled to begin June 7 with games to be held at the East End and North/Middle Ward Plalygrounds.

The league has limited the number of tyeams to 14. Returning teams will be given first consideration. Teams may be composed of between 8 and 12 members

Griefshare

A new Griefshare group will be forming at Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, 223 E. Broad Street, as of June 1. Meetings will be held on Tuesdays, at 1:30 p.m.

The 13-week sessions, Biblically based and non-denominational, are designed to help those hurting from the loss of a loved one.

Zion Lewistown

The Rev. Sunny Stock will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Zion Church in the Lewistown Valley. The service will include Confirmation and Communion. Sunday school classes will be held at 9:30 a.m.

The joint youth group will met Friday, at 7 o'clock, at the youth building at Christ Church, McKeansburg.

St. John Lutheran

The Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. service this Pentecost Sunday in St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. The service will include Confirmation and recognition of the Senior Choir members. Participants are reminded to wear red. Sunday school classes meet at 10:30 a.m.

Also on Sunday, Bells will rehearse at noon.

Activities for next week will include: Monday, joint meeting of the Social Ministry, Stewardship and Evangelism Committes, at 6:30 p.m.; Wednesday, Bible study at 6:30 p.m.; Thursday, Chimes rehearsal at 6:45 p.m. and Youth Choir meets at 7:30 p.m.

Democrats to meet

The Eastern Schuylkill Democrats will meet this Monday, at 7:30 p.m., at the East End Fire Company.

Zion Lutheran

The Rev. Debra Ernst will officiate at the 9:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. The service will include the Sacrament of Holy Communion.

Activities for next week will include: Wednesday, PERT meeting at 7 p.m.; Thursday, Rejoice and Sing Choir rehearsal at 6:30 p.m., Senior Choir at 7:30 p.m.
