May 21, 1983 Palmerton's Georgianna Messinger and Tamaqua's Dave Keich each win two individual golds and one with a relay team at the District 11 Track and Field championships at Northern Lehigh. Messinger wins the Class AA 1600 and 3200 in record time and helps set another mark in the 3200 relay. Keich gains first in the Class AAA 300 hurdles, setting a meet record, and also wins the triple jump. He also contributes to the Raiders victory in the 400 relay. Northwestern's Pharon Metzger also cops two golds, winning the Class AA shot put and discus.
