Speed was a contributing factor in a two vehicle crash that occurred about 7:48 a.m. on Tuesday, May 18, along SR183 in Wayne Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Craig A. Leymeister, 41, of Mar Lin, was driivng a 1971 Ford Mustang at a high rate of speed in the left lane when he changed lanes to the right to pass a vehicle in the left lane. Leymeister then went to change lanes and travel back to the left lane when he lost control of his car.

The Mustang traveled across the northbound lane and struck the guard rail with its left front bumper. The car then bounced off the rail and crossed the northbound lane and went into the southbound lane spinning clockwise. The Mustang was facing north in the left southbound lane then drifted north down the road and struck the front right bumper of a 2005 Dodge Dakota operated by Jayne L. Cooper, 29, of Summit Station.

Troopers said Leymeister sustained a moderate injury and was transported to the Reading Hospital for treatment. Cooper was not injured. Troopers cited Leymeister for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed.
