Monroe man jailed on multiple counts
A Monroe County man was jailed over the weekend on multiple criminal counts.
Pocono Mountain Regional police said Ahmed Darwish, 21, of Mt. Pocono, was arrested on Saturday, May 8, following a search of his home. According to police on April 9 a Mt. Pocono woman reported her vehicle was broken into and numerous items were taken including credit cards. A check with the credit card companies indicated the cards were used the same night at Joe's Kwik Mart in Pocono Summit and the Walmart store in Mt. Pocono.
Police reviewed the surveillance video from both stores and observed a male using the cards and signing the victims' name. The male was later identified as Darwish, police said.
Police obtained an arrest warrant for Darwish and a search warrant for his home. It was served on May 8. Darwish was taken into custody on charges of access device fraud (felony 3), forgery, theft and receiving stolen property, all misdemeanors. A search of the residence revealed various drug paraphernalia items, which he was also charged with.
He was arraigned on the counts and committed to the county prison in Snydersville in lieu of $25,000 bail.
