Road rage incident reported in Carbon

A road rage incident was reported in Carbon County. State police at Lehighton said the incident occurred on Thursday, May 6, about 9:50 a.m. along SR248 westbound at the Bowmanstown exit.

Troopers said Bruce Hawk, 39, of Ashfield, and a 49-year-old male from Brodheadsville, who state police declined to name, became engaged in a verbal dispute over Hawk's driving actions. The victim left the area in his vehicle with Hawk following in his. The victim stopped at the above stated location. Hawk approached the victim's vehicle carrying a pipe.

Troopers said Hawk then swung the pipe smashing the victim's driver side window while the victim was seated in the vehicle. The victim suffered injuries from the broken glass projected on him.

Hawk fled the scene prior to the arrival of troopers but was later located. He was placed under arrest and charged with aggravated and simple assault, criminal mischief and harassment.

Troopers said East Penn Township police assisted in locating Hawk.
