Coins, jewelry taken in break-in

An extensive coin collection and jewelry were reported taken in a Carbon County burglary. It was one of two break-ins investigated by state police at Lehighton, along with two acts of criminal mischief.

Troopers said the residence of Philip Patrick McGarry, 50, of 280 James St., Lehighton, Towamensing Township, was entered sometime between 8:30 and 10:20 a.m. on Friday, May 7. Removed was the coin collection, miscellaneous jewelry and a "Adams" brand pool stick that has a snake skin handle with two small tears in it. No value was listed for the missing items.

The second entry occurred at the home of Harold N. Behrens, 57, at 8431 Lot 26, Queens Way, in Kunkletown, Polk Township, Monroe County. Sometime between May 1 and 8 entry was made to the home. The only item found to be missing is a propane heater. Various other fixtures from inside the residence were dismantled and staged near a door, troopers said.

Troopers also reported on two criminal mischief incidents.

Virginia Ann Henson, 39, of 233 White St., Weissport, Carbon County, reported the passenger side rear window on her car was broken while parked near her home. The incident was reported at 2:35 p.m. on Saturday, May 8.

Eugene C. Zelenka, 52, of 5618 Owl Hollow Rd., Saylorsburg, Ross Township, Monroe County, reported the back window on his 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer was smashed while parked in his driveway. The incident occurred sometime between 11 p.m. Friday, May 7, and 7 a.m. on Saturday.
