Monroe man jailed for making threats

A Monroe County man was jailed earlier this week after making terroristic threats and firing a hunting rifle in close proximity of three females. State police at Lehighton said the initial incident occurred about 6:53 p.m. on Tuesday, May 11, at 510 Keuhner Road, in Eldred Township.

According to troopers David Allen Vanhorn, 47, of Kunkletown, discharged the weapon in the area of three females, ages 47, 45 and 15, to scare them away from his residence. Troopers said he did not shoot at the victims.

Troopers arrived on scene and after a brief negotiation took Vanhorn into custody and transported him to the barracks in Towamensing Township, Carbon County. At the barracks Vanhorn repeatedly spit on the floor and exposed his genitals to a Trooper Gregory Emiliani and then threatened to killed Trooper Norman Strauss. He also kicked the door and roof of a state police cruiser.

Vanhorn was charged with terroristic threats, criminal attempt-institutional vandalism, criminal attempt-criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, indecent exposure and open lewdness.

He was arraigned and lodged in the county prison in Snydersville in liue of bail.
