Carbon attorney named 'Rising Star' by magazine
Gregory D. Malaska, Esq, an attorney with Young & Haros, LLC, Stroudsburg, was recently named by Philadelphia Magazine as a "Rising Star" in its May 26, 2010 Super Lawyers issue.
The Rising Stars program is affiliated with the larger program known as Super Lawyers, a multi-state effort to recognize attorneys from all practice areas. In order to qualify for consideration as a Rising Star, the candidate must be either 40 years old or younger or in practice for ten years or less. The Rising Star program requires a formal nomination by either an attorney or a client. A research department then evaluates each candidate based on the following 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement: verdicts and settlements, transactions, representative clients, experience, honors and awards, special licenses and certifications, position within law firm, bar and or other professional activity, pro bono and community service as a lawyer, scholarly lectures and writings, education and employment background, and other outstanding achievements. Candidates are then grouped into categories based on firm size. Those with the highest point totals from each category are selected. While up to five percent of the lawyers in the state are named as Super Lawyers, no more than 2.5 percent are named to the Rising Stars list.
