PV Black Diamonds open with two wins

The Panther Valley Black Diamonds opened up with a pair of wins in the Keystone Senior Babe Ruth League.

In the Carbon Babe Ruth League, the Franklin Township Patriots are off to a 3-0 start.

KEYSTONE SENIOR BABE RUTH

Bushkill Patriots-Franklin Hurricanes

Jeff Noyes hurled a complete game two-hit shutout with eight strikeouts as the Hurricanes blanked the Patriots 12-0 in six innings.

Dane Ciaverella was two-for-two with a double and two RBIs for the winners. Nolan Saurzopf went one-for-two with a double and took the loss for Bushkill.

Allen Warriors-Franklin Hurricanes

Andy White and Bill Gunkle doubled to back up Tyler Rothdeutsch, who have up just two hits and no earned runs in a 5-3 Allen Township win over the Hurricanes.

Ben Stermer was the losing pitcher.

Pocono Mt. Outlaws-Towamensing Yankees

The Outlaws exploded for six runs in the fourth inning to down the Yankees 8-4.

Jon Mandile got the complete game win with 10 strikeouts. Aaron Rushin added a two-run homer for Pocono.

Joe Tyahla had a leadoff homer in the first for Towamensing. Dan Haney was the losing pitcher.

M/W Nationals-PV Black Diamonds

Zach Stanko struckout five and picked up a complete game win for the Black Diamonds by a 12-3 score over the Nationals.

Corey Ryba had a solo home run and Josh Faenza had three RBIs for the Black Diamonds.

Mike Sabo struckout seven and gave up just one earned run for the Yankees in a 10-2 win over the Pirates.

Jesse Reis had a single with one RBI for the Yankees. Tommy Byrne had a hit and two RBIs for the Pirates.

Forks Falcons-PV Black Diamonds

Brandon Heffelfinger and Jeff Corby had big bats to lead the Black Diamonds to a 13-1 win over the Falcons.

Heffelfinger was three-for-three with a double, triple and two RBIs. Corby had two hits and drove in a run.

Thad Ogozalek was the winning pitcher. Jack DeAngelo was the loser.

CARBON COUNTY BABE RUTH

Franklin Township Patriots-Lansford Krajcirik's

Jacen McAvoy, Zeke Wehr and Anthony Farano all had a base hit in the Patriots 4-3 win over Krajcirik's.

McEvoy and Wehr also scored runs, while Farano added two RBIs.

Anthony Rossino had three strikouts and picked up the win. T. Gallagher, who doubled and scored for Lansford, took the loss.

A.J. Wenrich fanned six had a base hit and scored two runs as the Patriots defeated the Chiefs 7-2

J. Farano had two hits and scored two runs, while Anthony Rossino had a hit and scored twice.

Joe Oriel had a hit and scored a run for the Chiefs.

David Thatcher was the losing pitcher.

Franklin Township Patriots 15 JT Royals 0

Anthony Rossino tossed a one-hitter as the Patriots blasted the Royals 15-0 in a two-inning game via the mercy rule.

Zeke Wehr and Jake Hoats both went 1-for-2 and scored two runs.

Mitch Hoffman had Jim Thorpe's lone hit.

Mike Cataldo was the losing pitcher.
