DUI charges
Several drivers are facing driving under the influence (DUI) charges, according to state police at Lehighton.
Troopers said on Monday, May 31, about 12:50 a.m. Michael Hunter Slutter, 19, of Saylorsburg, was driving a 2002 Yamaha FZ1 motorcycle eastbound on Faulstick Road and traveling too fast for a slight curve in the road. Slutter lost control of the bike, traveled through a stop sign and across the intersection with Mt. Eaton Road, in Ross Township, Monroe County. The bike came to rest on Mt. Eaton Road.
Slutter was injured and flown by PennStar helicopter to St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. Troopers said the DUI charge is pending blood test results.
On Saturday, May 29, about 11:40 p.m. troopers stopped John A. Caprario, 23, of Stroudsburg, along SR209 in the area of the Towamensing Elementary School, in Towamensing Township, Carbon County, for numerous traffic violations. Caprario was found to be under the influence and will face a DUI charge, troopers said.
On May 23 about 11:43 a.m. troopers stopped Matthew Scott Troll, 20, of Saylorsburg, along SR209 in Polk Township, Monroe County, for several motor vehicle code violations. He was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance, troopers said. He was placed under arrest with the DUI charge pending blood test results.
On May 28 about 10:38 p.m. troopers stopped Michael Rehl, 19, of Lehighton, along Summit Avenue, in Lehighton, for speeding and an equipment violation. Rehl was found to be under the influence and in possession of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia, troopers said.
